CSE Overview

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at MLR Institute of Technology has been
offering a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) program in Computer Science and Engineering
since 2005, with an initial intake of 60 students. Over the years, the program has grown in
popularity, and the intake capacity has been increased to 120 students in 2007, 180 in 2012, and
240 in 2013.

Recognizing the need for advanced education in the field of computer science and engineering,
the department also offers a Master of Technology (M.Tech) program in Computer Science and
Engineering since 2011, with an intake of 18 students.

In addition to the academic programs, the department has established a dedicated research center
to encourage research and development in various areas of computer science and engineering.
The research center is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities and provides a
platform for faculty members, research scholars, and students to engage in research activities and
collaborate with industry experts. The research center focuses on interdisciplinary research, with
research areas including artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer networks,
cybersecurity, and software engineering, among others.

The B.Tech (Computer Science and Engineering) program offered by the department has been
accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) since 2008, which is a testament to the
quality of education and infrastructure provided by the department. The department has a team of
highly qualified faculty members who are experts in their respective fields and are dedicated to
providing quality education to the students. The curriculum of the programs is regularly updated
to keep up with the latest developments in the field of computer science and engineering.
In addition to the regular intake, the department also offers an additional 10% of seats under the
lateral entry scheme, which allows students who have completed a diploma or equivalent course
in engineering to join the B.Tech program directly in the second year. The department also
encourages students to participate in extracurricular activities, such as coding competitions,
hackathons, and seminars, to help them develop practical skills and stay up-to-date with the latest
trends in the industry.

Overall, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at MLR Institute of Technology
is committed to providing a holistic education to the students, preparing them for successful
careers in the field of computer science and engineering, and contributing to the advancement of
knowledge through its research center.
